Some basic knowledge of cosmetic glass materials
Glass containers processed on the basis of glass are commonly used in the field of cosmetics and daily chemicals, and are favored by users for their high transparency and good hand feel. Nevertheless, there are various types of glass materials, and the choice of material is usually linked to the product grade. For example, in the cologne market, the main material of perfume bottles is crystal white glass, while the more popular cosmetic glass in the market is made of high white glass. Most of the materials are employed.

1. Material definition.
Main components of glass: Na2O·CaO·6SiO2
Glass is formed by the fusion of silica and other chemicals (predominantly generated from: soda ash, limestone, quartz). A constant network structure is formed during melting, and the viscosity slowly rises and hardens during cooling. The chemical composition of ordinary glass is Na2SiO3, CaSiO3, SiO2 or Na2O·CaO·6SiO2, etc. The main component is silicate double salt, which is an amorphous solid with random structure.
2. Material properties.
a. Excellent see-through and light transmission performance.
b. The manufacturing process is straightforward.
c. The shape is free and changeable.
d. High hardness.
e. Heat-resistant, clean and easy to clean.
f. Low tensile strength.
g. Can be used repeatedly.
3. Material category.
Glass is divided into ordinary white material, high white material, ultra-white material and crystal white material. Different material colors can directly affect the transparency and brittleness of glass products. The better the raw materials, the better the quality of glass products produced. Prices also vary. The most common common white material glass bottle uses more recycled materials (commonly known as broken glass) in the production ingredients, and the formula price of high white material and crystal white material is much higher than that of common white material. High-white glass needs to choose fine material and quartz sand with less impurities and high density, and crystal white material is basically processed with quartz stone as the main material and silica as the auxiliary material.

4. Manufacturing process.
In addition to raw materials such as quartz sand, soda ash, feldspar and limestone, the molding of glass products also needs to add auxiliary materials such as clarifying agents, fluxing agents, opacifiers, colorants, decolorizing agents, oxidizing agents and reducing agents. After melting and homogenization, it is processed and shaped, and then annealed.
5. Processing method.
The main processing methods of glass are varied, including manual blowing, mechanical blowing, extrusion molding, drawing method, etc. Among them, high-white glass is mainly produced by row machines in China, while crystal white glass is mainly produced by imitation machines.
6. Use of cosmetic glass packaging materials.
Glass containers for cosmetics are typically dominated by high white materials, and high-end products also utilize crystal white materials, such as perfume bottles. Through deep processing, glass can be shaped into packaging containers such as cream bottles, essence bottles, toner bottles, lotion bottles, foundation bottles, and essential oil bottles.

7. Sustainable development.
After the glass products are consumed by the market, they can be recycled and reprocessed, and then reused. They are green and environmentally friendly products.
